August 30, 2018 Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone’s school year got off to a great start this week. It’s been a busy first week at Our Lady. A big thank you to Mrs. Morgan Kelly and Mrs. Kim Strom who are organizing our car line volunteers this year. They kicked off day one with a sweet treat for all of our car line parents. Tuesday the Kindergartners had their first full day of school while their moms and dads laughed and cried with 1st grade parents at the Boohoo/Woohoo breakfast. Thank you to Mrs. Malinda Cummings and Mrs. Stacy Schmidt who organized the event.

Kindergartners weren’t the only new faces in the building this week. We also welcomed Mrs. Rosalie Keddington, our new music teacher.  We are blessed to have Mrs. Keddington join our faculty. She has many exciting things planned for the students this year including a winter music concert, which will take place in December in conjunction with our band concert.

The heat wave didn’t slow us down on Wednesday when we practiced various safety drills in the afternoon. Thanks to our friends at Notre Dame High School, all of our students were treated to ice cold popsicles at the end of the day. As the week winds down, I think we are all ready for the Labor Day weekend. I hope everyone enjoys the four day weekend and I look forward to seeing all of the students return for our second week of school beginning on Tuesday, September 4.

As always, we are in need of volunteers this school  year. If you can volunteer your time, we would greatly appreciate it.

Are you a morning person?!  Do you love seeing little smiling faces every morning?  If so, we have the job for you! We are in need of volunteers for car line.  Our goal is to have 2 volunteers each morning. A faculty member will help each morning as well.  Car line begins at 8:05 and ends at 8:25 sharp. If you are able to assist, or have any questions, please contact Morgan Kelly as soon as possible ( Please consider helping out, to ensure a smooth morning routine for the OLPH students and parents!

If you are interested in volunteering one hour of time for lunch/recess duty a month, please use the following link to access the SignUp Genius for August and September. Once you have signed up for your time slot, you will receive a confirmation. Prior to the start of the month you will receive an email with a list of the Responsibilities for Lunch and Recess Monitors, detailing the process you should follow when you arrive at school for your duty.

We are also in need of kitchen volunteers. If you are interested in being a kitchen volunteer, please email Mrs. Kovacs at

The OLPH Gift Card program is critical to help keep tuition costs down and it also works towards getting those volunteer points to help you earn tuition credit.  There are a multitude of days (during all weekend masses and Tuesday through Friday mornings) and dates available to work around everyone’s busy schedules.  It would be wonderful if each family could sign up. Please use the link to sign up!/showSignUp/409054da5ac28a20-weekend

Cougar Crawl 2018

Cougar Crawl 2018 planning is already underway. This year Kristen Bedics and Tiffany Gallis will be heading up our committee. As you know, this is a big fundraising event for our school. All Cougar Crawl activities and requirements will be rolled out in a step by step fashion to increase productivity and participation from all of our school families.

Step one is our Business and Corporate Sponsorship opportunity. Do you know someone who owns a business? Do you frequent your local ice cream or pizza shop? Do you want to help advertise your favorite pediatrician or dentist? This is where YOU, the OLPH families can participate in outreach to potential business sponsors. Show how proud you are of OLPH and its future by asking for sponsorship/donation for our 2018 Cougar Crawl. Highlight things you love about Our Lady and also what the different sponsorship levels can do for their business.

Stay tuned for more information on Step 2: Family and Friends Sponsorships and Mass Canning opportunities.

Do you like to sing? Have you ever considered joining the school choir? Students in grades 1st through 8th can join. No auditions are necessary. Please see the attached flyer for more details. If you have any questions, you can contact John Keglovits, the school choir director at
